RiverWindow.org is a static informational website. This policy describes what data, if any, is collected when you visit this site, and how it is handled.
This site does not run a backend application and does not collect personal data directly. No registration is required to read content.
Web servers generate access logs that record IP addresses, request timestamps, requested URLs, and browser user-agent strings. These logs are used for security monitoring and performance diagnostics. Log data is not sold or shared with third parties and is retained for a limited period.
The contact form on the About page operates client-side only. Entries are not transmitted to a server and are not stored. The form is provided as a visual demonstration of contact capability.
This site uses browser localStorage to record your cookie banner preference (accepted or rejected). No tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies are set by this site. Selecting "Reject" on the cookie banner prevents no functionality, as no tracking mechanisms are active.
Some images on this site are hosted by Wikimedia Commons and served from Wikimedia servers. When your browser loads these images, Wikimedia's servers receive your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request. Wikimedia operates under its own privacy policy.
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When fonts are requested, Google's servers receive your IP address. Google's data practices are described in Google's Privacy Policy.
This site does not currently use any analytics platform. No tracking scripts from Google Analytics, Matomo, or similar services are loaded.
Articles on this site link to external websites including provincial government fisheries authorities, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and scientific publishers. This site has no control over the data practices of those sites.
